You will need to be invited to the realms or provided with a join link to the realms. Once you have this, you can join through Minecraft normally by clicking the realms tab.

The realms require the Bedrock edition of Minecraft, which is the one on Switch, iOS (Apple iPad, iPhone, etc.), XBOX, Playstation. You can also join bedrock servers using the Windows install of the game, which has both Bedrock and Java versions.
